Devin P. Cohen is an experienced litigator who has devoted his career to the representation of individuals in civil cases.
Devin was found Qualified for Civil Court Judge by the Judicial Screening Committee for the Democratic Party in Kings County .
Devin is a volunteer (pro bono) community Mediator and Arbitrator with 15 years experience in dispute resolution, including experience both in the courts (Small Claims Part of Civil Court, Supreme Court, Appellate Division) and through Safe Horizon's Brooklyn Mediation Center (resolving community and neighbor disputes, labor issues, Landlord/Tenant, Family Court & Criminal Court referrals).
Devin provides free (pro bono) legal advice to various community, non-profit and amateur sports organizations.
Devin fights for our communities as the 1st Vice Chair of Brooklyn Community Board Six (CB6).
As Chair of the CB6 Public Safety Committee, Devin helped lead the successful fight to save FDNY Engine 204's firehouse from being sold by the City. He has made a priority of improving community-police relations and promoting community public safety programs.
As a member and a past Chair of the CB6 Environmental Protection Committee, Devin has fought for clean water in the Gowanus Canal, recycling improvements, green building practices and environmental responsibility by City and State agencies and developers.
Devin, his wife Cheryl and their newborn son live in Park Slope.
Devin has lived in the community (Park Slope, Boerum Hill and Prospect Heights) since 1969.
Devin volunteers his time as an Emergency Medical Technician with the Park Slope Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Devin serves as a Chief of his local Community Emergency Response Team.
Devin is a lifelong community advocate and progressive Democratic activist. He served as president of Independent Neighborhood Democrats, a reform Delegate to the county Judicial Convention, and as the organizer of DNC's Brooklyn march and rally in response to the 2004 Republican Convention.
